Botanical Name: Thymus vulgaris - thyme
An easy to grow hardy aromatic, perennial herb with small green leaves and attractive small lilac flowers in summer. It's primarily used in cooking, aromatherapy, medicinal and often for ornamental purposes. Thyme needs a position in full sun with well-drained soil enriched with compost. It can be picked as needed and is a kitchen staple that's great rubbed on meat, fish, sprinkled on vegetables such as mushrooms, beans and carrots. Thyme's lilac flowers and striking foliage makes it an excellent plant for raised garden beds, as a ground cover or as a flowering border for vegie patches, dry spots and pots..
